AGR’s White Paper entitled “FEA studies of impact loads on NNPB refillable bottles” was just published by Glass Worldwide Magazine in their July/August issue. The White Paper written by AGR’s Dr. Wenke Hu, William G. Slusser and Gary Smay discusses the impact loads considerations when using NNPB forming technology for refillable beer bottles when evaluated by FEA computer stress analysis.  This White Paper is the second in a series of three. The first White Paper evaluated the internal pressure and vertical load performance of refillable bottles through computer stress analysis. AGR’s  Manager of Research Services Bill Slusser, a member of the Chinese Glass Expert Committee, and Senior Scientist Peter de Haan, conducted two Training seminars "Coating Technology" and "Fracture 1: Testing and Breakage Diagnosis of Glass Containers” in Beijing, China. The two seminars were conducted over five days to other members of the committee made up of glass manufacturers and fillers including Shandong Pharmaceutical Glass, China Resources Snow Breweries, NHB Glass, Beijing Huayuda Glass Application Technology Research Institute, Chengdu Hong Zhu Glass Additives, Qingdao Rotar Glass, Hebei Yanjing Glass Product, Anhui Deli Daily Glass, China National Packaging Product quality Supervision & Inspection Center ( Lanzhou),  O-I (Tianjin), Sichuan Yibin Global Group Ge La Si Glass Manufacturing and Hebei Xinji Tianyu Glass.

AGR, in partnership with Molson Coors, has unveiled an innovative new beer bottle design for one of the brewing company’s popular brands in India, Thunderbolt. Featuring unique embossing and debossing, a fresh new color, and a ring-pull cap, the new bottle is designed to help Molson Coors distinguish Thunderbolt from other beers in the market.

Thunderbolt, described as “India’s original strong beer,” had previously been packaged in a 650ml amber bottle, a common bottle type in India’s returnable glass market. In an effort to have Thunderbolt’s packaging match its one-of-a-kind bold taste, Molson Coors turned to AGR to create a bottle that was proprietary, branded and uniquely recognizable in the marketplace, while remaining easy to produce.
